Shemar Stewart Leaves Bengals Minicamp Due to Contract Dispute

Cincinnati Bengals rookie defensive end Shemar Stewart left the team’s mandatory minicamp due to a contract dispute, according to a source.

The Bengals are about to finish their three-day minicamp this Thursday morning.

Stewart, selected 17th overall in the draft, has yet to sign his rookie contract or participate in offseason workouts. According to a source, the dispute centers on contractual language that could void guaranteed money in the future.

During training, Stewart has been a spectator during the exercises, often standing near the defensive line.

The former Texas A&M star player was not present on Thursday when the Bengals practiced inside Paycor Stadium.

Earlier in the week, Stewart said the organization is more concerned with winning arguments instead of games, adding that he was “100 percent correct” in seeking standard contract language for the Bengals’ previous draft picks.
