Jaylon Johnson, Bears Cornerback, Out with Injury in Training Camp

Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson will be out of action for several weeks of training camp due to a leg injury suffered during preseason practice, according to general manager Ryan Poles. Johnson was one of four players placed on the non-football injury (NFI) list on Saturday. Since then, quarterback Case Keenum, running back Ian Wheeler, and wide receiver Jahdae Walker have been activated from the NFI list.

We are not too concerned about any long-term issue that might affect Johnson’s return.

Poles added that the team is confident in Johnson’s recovery. Johnson, who is about to begin his sixth season in the NFL with the Bears, is coming off two consecutive Pro Bowl seasons. In 2024, the 26-year-old player achieved personal records in tackles (53) and tackles for loss (7), as well as two interceptions and a forced fumble. Johnson played in all 17 games last season, for the first time in his career. The Bears signed cornerback Tre Flowers before the start of training camp. Flowers, 30 years old, played last season with Jacksonville and Indianapolis, appearing in five games.
