Amari Cooper Returns to the Raiders: Luxury Reinforcement for the Offense

The Las Vegas Raiders have secured the signing of wide receiver Amari Cooper to a one-year contract, according to sources close to the team. This move marks Cooper’s return to the organization that drafted him in 2015, when the team was still in Oakland. Cooper, 31, returns to Las Vegas after his time with the Buffalo Bills in 2024. In his previous stint with the Raiders, Cooper accumulated impressive statistics in 52 games, including 225 receptions for 3,183 yards and 19 touchdowns. He especially stood out in his first two seasons, surpassing 1,000 receiving yards. Cooper’s career includes stints with the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns, before arriving at the Bills. In 2024, he played eight regular season games and three postseason games with the Bills, although he dealt with a left wrist injury. Cooper, throughout his 10-year career, has accumulated 711 receptions, 10,033 yards, and 64 touchdowns. Furthermore, he has managed to surpass 1,000 yards in seven seasons, highlighting his personal record of 1,250 yards in 2023. This signing comes at a key moment, following Jakobi Meyers’s trade request, who is seeking a new contract. The Raiders, for the moment, have no plans to trade the 28-year-old receiver. Meyers is coming off a standout season, with 87 receptions, 1,027 yards, and four touchdowns. The depth at the wide receiver position for the Raiders will be bolstered with the arrival of Cooper, especially considering the roster includes players like Tre Tucker, Dont’e Thornton Jr., and Jack Bech, who are expected to have important roles in the offense.
