The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, is in a recovery period after suffering a fracture in his left wrist during the game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Despite the injury, Rodgers intends to return to training on Thursday.

It feels better than Sunday, that’s for sure.

Rodgers has been working with head athletic trainer Gabe Amponsah, focusing on rehabilitation. However, his availability for the Week 12 game against the Chicago Bears is still unclear. To play against the Bears, Rodgers emphasized that he must be able to “protect” himself, prioritizing safety. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin mentioned that Friday will be a crucial day in Rodgers’ evaluation process. The quarterback avoided commenting on a possible extra incentive to play against the Bears, given his history with the team.

There are incentives for every opponent, but I have enjoyed many Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays in that city. It’s a great sports city, with phenomenal fans and a great place to play.

Rodgers also addressed the rivalry with the Bears, mentioning his 24-5 record against them in the regular season. The Steelers player also commented on the search for a brace for his injured wrist, and mentioned that he currently feels more comfortable receiving the ball from the shotgun formation, but the goal is to be able to receive it from the center. Rodgers’ injury occurred on a play in the second half of the second quarter against the Bengals, when he fell backward under pressure. Although he played one more play before halftime, he did not return to the field afterwards. In Rodgers’ absence, Mason Rudolph entered the game, completing 12 of 16 attempts for 126 yards and a touchdown in two offensive possessions. Rudolph took first-team reps on Wednesday, with Will Howard as backup.

He’s a great backup. He’s very useful during the week. He’s a professional. He’s ready to play. He’s a player and, seeing the locker room last week, I was very excited to see him go up and down the field and those two series he had. I’m grateful for the way he played, the way he prepares. He’s much more type A, I would say, than I am with preparation. He’s a little tense, but it makes him a good backup quarterback because he’s very attentive to detail and I love being around him.

Rudolph is familiar with the situation of entering into action at the last minute and with preparing for a moment that might not arrive. Since he was drafted in the third round by the Steelers in 2018, Rudolph has started 13 games and has appeared in 24 in total.

I have a lot of experience going back and forth in different roles. And so, I just… it’s part of what has probably cooled my personality a bit. I just say, ‘Screw it,’ and I just adapt to the blows.
