Brock Purdy Secures His Future with the 49ers with a Mega Contract

Since Brock Purdy took over the starting position in 2022, the San Francisco 49ers have made it clear that they see him as the quarterback of the present and the future. Now, that confidence has materialized into a multimillion-dollar deal.

The 49ers are finalizing a five-year, $265 million contract with Purdy, including $181 million guaranteed. General Manager John Lynch had anticipated the deal would be finalized, and it was.

Purdy, after reporting to the preseason program in April, demonstrated his commitment to the team, which accelerated the negotiations. The agreement was reached before other important team extensions, such as those of Nick Bosa, Brandon Aiyuk, and Trent Williams, which were extended until training camp.

“Brock is the leader of our team. I have loved these three years with Brock. I plan to be with Brock as long as I’m here. Brock has been a ‘stud’. He’s a guy I have a lot of confidence in, just as a person, but it starts with what he’s done on the field in these last two and a half years and (we’re) capable of winning a Super Bowl with him. We almost did it. And I know he’s capable of getting a Super Bowl for the Niners in the future.”

Purdy, who was the last pick of the 2022 draft, will receive one of the most significant salary increases in NFL history. His rookie contract cost the team only $5.365 million in 2025.

In 2024, Purdy proved his worth, despite injuries to several key players on the team. He finished seventh in QBR (68.0), tenth in passing yards (3,864), and third in yards per attempt (8.5) in his 15 games.

Despite some challenges in games with bad weather and the lack of comebacks in the last quarter, the 49ers’ confidence in Purdy remained firm. Since becoming a starter in 2022, the 49ers have a record of 27-15 in the games he has started. Purdy ranks among the best quarterbacks in QBR (70.2), passing yards (9,452), yards per attempt (8.9), and touchdown passes (64).

With his future secured, Purdy can now focus on taking the 49ers back to the top.

“I want to be in San Francisco and play my football career here. I know I am the right one for this organization and that I can do what it takes to take us where we want to go.”
