Moses Moody undergoes surgery and aims for the start of next season
Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody underwent surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb, the team announced Thursday.
Moody is expected to be recovered for the start of next season’s training camp.
This season, Moody started in 34 games, including the last 28 of the regular season. In 15 of those 28 games, the player managed to score in double digits, showing his best level of play after the arrival of Jimmy Butler.
In the playoffs, Moody started in the first two games of the first round, before coach Steve Kerr adjusted Golden State’s starting lineup. The player struggled with his shot in the postseason, shooting 35% from the field before requiring surgery on his thumb.
In his fourth season, Moody averaged 9.8 points per game, a career high, and demonstrated the potential on both sides of the court that led him to be the 14th pick in the 2021 draft.
I thought the picture cleared up a lot for Moses after the Butler trade. In the last few years, there was a clear overlap with Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses. The trade somehow solidified Moses’s role as a defender on the ball, a three-point shooter, playing with other players. For the first time in his four years here, everything was simplified and cleared up, and he did a great job within that.
