SAN FRANCISCO – The Golden State Warriors have waived guard Seth Curry, anticipating his return to the team in the coming months.
This decision was made due to the Warriors’ financial limitations in the new salary cap environment. The team is financially limited and cannot afford an additional veteran minimum contract until early November. Golden State’s fifteenth and final roster spot will remain vacant until the guard’s expected return.
Seth Curry, younger brother of Stephen Curry, has been working at the team’s facilities and on the only trip in October, but has not participated in the preseason games.
Seth Curry began his 11-year career in the franchise’s G League program in Santa Cruz, but then chose to explore other options, playing for 10 NBA teams, preferring to chart his own professional path, away from his brother’s shadow.
His career has been marked by success in shooting. Curry’s younger brother has made 945 three-pointers in his career, with a 43.3% success rate, the seventh-highest percentage in league history.
This summer, Seth decided it was the right time to join Steph, who has long wanted to play with his brother in the NBA. Although it will be delayed, the plan is still in place even after this departure.
