Moe Wagner Returns to Orlando Magic on a One-Year Contract

Free agent power forward/center Moe Wagner has agreed to a one-year, $5 million contract to return to the Orlando Magic, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Wagner’s agent, Jason Glushon, reached an agreement with Magic executives on Friday.

The Magic declined Wagner’s $11 million team option earlier this summer, making him a free agent.

Wagner, who suffered a torn ACL in December, was averaging a career-best 12.9 points with 56.2% field goal shooting and 36% from the three-point line, also his best mark, before the injury last season.

In his 30 games, Wagner had become a Sixth Man of the Year candidate and led the NBA in points among players averaging less than 20 minutes per game.

Brother of Magic star Franz Wagner, Moritz Wagner was originally selected 25th overall in the 2018 NBA draft. After going through three different teams in his first three seasons, he was cut at the end of the 2020-21 season and signed by Orlando.
