Timberwolves Achieve Epic Comeback Against Rockets

The Minnesota Timberwolves, with significant absences in their roster, staged a historic comeback against the Houston Rockets, demonstrating a remarkable capacity for resilience and focus. In a game full of emotions, the Timberwolves managed to overcome a 13-point deficit in overtime, sealing the victory with a score of 110-108. This feat represents the biggest comeback in overtime in NBA history since game details began to be recorded in the 1997-98 season.

We fought against a lot of adversity. We should have won that game in regulation. We deserved to win that game. We were the better team all night, and we gave them the opportunity to steal it from us, but we stole it back.

Chris Finch, Timberwolves Coach
The match was marked by the absence of five of their seven key players. Anthony Edwards, plagued by knee problems, missed his fifth consecutive game. He was joined by the absences of Ayo Dosunmu, due to a calf injury, and Jaden McDaniels, who had to be substituted in the last quarter. The situation became even more complicated with Naz Reid’s ejection in overtime. Despite everything, the Timberwolves didn’t give up. After a 26-2 partial in favor of the Rockets that put them 13 points ahead, the Timberwolves reacted with determination. Mike Conley scored a crucial three-pointer, Kyle Anderson contributed with a ‘tip-in’ and a ‘3-point play’, and Donte DiVincenzo reduced the difference with a basket. Julius Randle, who took on the responsibility of defending Kevin Durant, led the offense in the second half and scored a key shot to give the Timberwolves the lead.

We have real competitors here, guys who want the challenge. It’s not the first time we’ve done something like this. When it gets tough, we come together as a group. It brings out the best in us.

With this victory, the Timberwolves remain in the fight for the playoff spots in the Western Conference, being half a game behind Denver and consolidating their position over Houston. The game was full of tension until the end, including a missed free throw by Kevin Durant from the free throw line in the last seconds.

I am very proud that we didn’t give up. We had many opportunities to get frustrated tonight. For the most part, we were able to overcome that. That’s the plan for us. We want to win a championship, so we know there will be adversity. We know it will come in many ways.
