In a moving ceremony held at Hamilton Stadium, NBA star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was honored with the key to the city by Mayor Andrea Horwath. This recognition comes after a historic season in which he led his team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, towards the NBA championship. In addition to the key, it was announced that a street will bear his name, a gesture that celebrates the impact and pride that Gilgeous-Alexander has generated in his hometown.Gilgeous-Alexander expressed his deep connection with Hamilton, highlighting the city’s unique spirit. “Hamilton is different from any other city in Ontario. The people of Hamilton have a different sense of courage, determination, pride, and energy than the rest of the province,” said the player. The ceremony took place on Thursday night, where Gilgeous-Alexander was honored before the second quarter of the CFL game between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the B.C.
