The captain of the German national basketball team, Dennis Schroder, was subjected to racist insults during the match against Lithuania in the EuroBasket, where Germany won with a score of 107-88. The German Basketball Federation reported that two people were identified as alleged perpetrators of the insults and were expelled from the sports venue in Tampere, Finland.

You can insult me, but monkey noises are something I don’t respect or accept. Racism has no place in this sport.

Dennis Schroder
According to the dpa news agency, the German captain, who is black, heard the insults while heading to the locker room.

I noticed that Dennis was very upset, and rightly so. These things have no place in sport or competition. We hope this will calm down and can be resolved somehow.
