Domantas Sabonis Out for the First Games of the Season with the Kings
The Sacramento Kings have confirmed that their star, All-Star center Domantas Sabonis, will not be able to play in the first two games of the regular season due to a Grade 1 hamstring strain, the team announced.
Sabonis suffered the injury during the preseason game against the Clippers last Wednesday night. Subsequently, he missed the last preseason game in Los Angeles while undergoing medical tests.
Although considered a minor injury, Sabonis will not be available for the Kings in the season opener in Phoenix on Wednesday, nor in the first home game against the Jazz next Friday. The earliest possible date for his return would be Sunday, October 26, in a home game against the Lakers.
The Kings are already without Keegan Murray, a fourth-year power forward, who will be out for at least a month due to a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb. During the preseason, the team has evaluated Isaac Jones, a second-year center, and veterans Dario Saric and Drew Eubanks to cover for the absences of Murray and Sabonis.
