Domantas Sabonis, out for the first Kings games

Sacramento Kings will be without their star, center Domantas Sabonis, for the first two games of the regular season. The player is suffering from a Grade 1 hamstring strain, according to the team.

Sabonis retired from the preseason game against the Clippers last Wednesday night due to the injury. Subsequently, he missed the last preseason game in Los Angeles on Friday night while undergoing medical tests.

Although considered a mild strain, Sabonis will not be available for the Kings’ season opener in Phoenix on Wednesday night, nor for the home opener against the Jazz next Friday. His earliest possible return would be for the home game against the Lakers on Sunday, October 26th.

The Kings were already without Keegan Murray, a fourth-year power forward, who will be out for at least a month due to a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb.

During the preseason, the team has evaluated Isaac Jones, a second-year center, and veterans Dario Saric and Drew Eubanks to cover for the absences of Murray and Sabonis.
