Domantas Sabonis Out Due to Injury, Sacramento Kings Lose Their Star
Sacramento, CA – The Sacramento Kings announced that their All-Star center, Domantas Sabonis, will be out of action for the first two games of the regular season due to a Grade 1 hamstring strain.
Sabonis suffered the injury during the preseason game against the Clippers last Wednesday night. Subsequently, he missed the last preseason game in Los Angeles while undergoing medical tests.
Despite being considered a minor injury, Sabonis will not be available for the Kings’ season debut on Wednesday in Phoenix, nor for the home opener against the Jazz next Friday. The earliest possible date for his return would be Sunday, October 26, in a home game against the Lakers.
The Kings are already in a difficult situation, as they are also without power forward Keegan Murray, who will be out for at least a month due to a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb.
During the preseason, the team has been testing Isaac Jones, a second-year center, alongside veterans Dario Saric and Drew Eubanks, to cover for the absences of Murray and Sabonis.
