Rick Fox seeks a legislative seat in the Bahamas
Former NBA player Rick Fox has announced his intention to run for a legislative seat in the Bahamas in the upcoming general elections. The news comes at a crucial time for the archipelago, which is facing significant challenges. Fox’s candidacy comes in a context marked by high-profile corruption cases, the influx of illegal immigrants, and ongoing recovery efforts following Hurricane Dorian, a devastating Category 5 storm that hit the country in September 2019. The announcement was made on Monday via Facebook.Fox, known for his successful basketball career, won three NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2015, he co-founded Echo Fox and acquired a spot in the North America League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) franchise, part of the world’s most important esports circuit. Subsequently, he left the organization. Fox, born in Toronto, is the son of a Canadian mother and a Bahamian father, and grew up in the Bahamas. He was selected by Boston with the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 1991 NBA draft.
