SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Former NBA player Rick Fox has announced his candidacy for a legislative seat in the Bahamas in the upcoming general elections. This decision comes at a crucial moment for the archipelago, which faces significant challenges.
- High-profile corruption cases.
- An increase in the illegal entry of people into the country.
- The ongoing recovery from Hurricane Dorian, a devastating Category 5 hurricane that struck the country in September 2019.
Rick Fox is a renowned NBA champion, with three titles won with the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2015, Fox co-founded Echo Fox, acquiring a franchise in the North America League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), a world-renowned esports circuit. Subsequently, he left the organization. Fox, born in Toronto, is the son of a Canadian mother and a Bahamian father, and grew up in the Bahamas. He was selected by Boston with the 24th pick in the first round of the 1991 NBA draft. He played the first six seasons of his career with the Celtics before joining the Lakers, where he won three NBA championships in his seven seasons with the team.“You have expressed your desire for greater transparency, a modern economy that prioritizes affordability and security, and a country where opportunity is our reality, not just a promise,” Fox wrote.
