PJ Washington Secures His Future with the Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks forward PJ Washington has reached an agreement to extend his contract with the franchise for four years and $90 million, according to his agent Kevin Bradbury of LIFT Sports Management.

Washington, who had one year remaining on his contract for $14.1 million, secures his stay in Dallas until the 2029-30 season.

With this four-year extension, the Mavericks have finalized deals with all key members of their roster eligible for new negotiations this offseason, including Kyrie Irving and Daniel Gafford, both with three-year extensions.

Washington joined the Mavericks at the NBA trade deadline in February 2024 and was a key piece in the team’s run to the Finals that season, starting in all 22 playoff games of 2024.

In the 2024-25 season, the 27-year-old player averaged 14.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 blocks, 1.1 steals, and shooting percentages of 45.3% from the field and 38.1% on three-pointers.

Washington was one of eight players who averaged 1 steal and 1 block last season among those who played at least 50 games, according to research data, and recorded 14 double-doubles, after having 10 combined in the previous three years.

The Mavericks are facing next season with, possibly, the best interior game in the league, led by Anthony Davis, Cooper Flagg, Dereck Lively II, Washington, and Gafford.
