Paul Pierce Arrested for Driving Under the Influence
Former NBA player Paul Pierce was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said. California Highway Patrol officers responded to an incident on a Los Angeles highway, where they found Pierce asleep at the wheel of his vehicle. The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. on the northbound lanes of Highway 101. Officers, after reopening the lanes approximately an hour after attending a previous accident, found a Range Rover SUV stopped in the road. Upon approaching the vehicle, they observed Pierce asleep and noticed signs of alcohol impairment, leading to a DUI investigation. The arrest was made on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, which will be reviewed by the Los Angeles city attorney. Pierce, known for his outstanding career in the NBA, played for the Boston Celtics for 15 seasons and also represented the LA Clippers before retiring in 2017. In addition, he played for the Brooklyn Nets and the Washington Wizards.
