Pacers Delay Arrival in Oklahoma City Due to Adverse Weather Conditions

OKLAHOMA CITY – The arrival of the Indiana Pacers in Oklahoma City, host of the NBA Finals, has been affected by inclement weather.

On Tuesday afternoon, meteorologists issued a tornado warning, a flood watch, and a severe thunderstorm watch for Oklahoma City and the surrounding areas, coinciding with the Pacers’ charter flight.

The flight was diverted to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to refuel. The team was expected to arrive in Oklahoma City later on Tuesday night. Arrivals and departures at Oklahoma City airport were disrupted by heavy rain and wind.

The Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder are scheduled to appear at the NBA Finals media day on Wednesday at the Paycom Center, which will host Game 1 of the title series on Thursday night.

At least one tornado was spotted in Norman, Oklahoma, near the University of Oklahoma campus on Tuesday afternoon. It was not immediately known if the tornado touched down or caused any damage.

Norman is located about 20 miles south of Oklahoma City.
