Aaron Nesmith Out with Knee Injury

Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle announced that Aaron Nesmith will be out of the courts for at least a month due to a left knee injury. The forward’s injury occurred during the Pacers’ loss in Phoenix last Thursday.

It will probably be at least four weeks. Ask me on December 15th. But it’s very good news, very, very good news. He doesn’t use a splint. He walks. I say it will probably be four weeks. That doesn’t mean it can’t be less. It’s not clear at this moment. But he’s doing very well and the news was very, very good.

The Pacers are already dealing with the absence of six key players. Tyrese Haliburton, their star point guard, will miss the rest of the season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered in the seventh game of the NBA Finals. Bennedict Mathurin, for his part, scored 31 points in two games before being sidelined by a toe injury. Andrew Nembhard has just returned after missing six games due to a shoulder injury. Obi Toppin, one of the most prominent substitutes, averaged 14 points in three games before suffering a stress fracture in his right foot. Nesmith was averaging 15.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 11 games, the best figures of his career. He scored 31 points, also his best mark, in the Pacers’ only victory against Golden State on November 1. The Pacers started the night with a 1-11 record.
