Tragedy Strikes Naz Reid: Timberwolves Player’s Sister Passes Away
The basketball community is in mourning following the tragic news of the death of Toraya Reid, sister of Minnesota Timberwolves player Naz Reid. The 28-year-old was the victim of a shooting at an apartment complex in Jackson, New Jersey, this weekend.
Authorities responded to a call about shots fired on Saturday morning, finding Toraya Reid dead near the complex exit. According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer, the victim had multiple gunshot wounds.
In relation to the incident, Shaquille Green, 29, a resident of Jackson, was arrested and charged with murder and weapons-related charges.
Billhimer revealed that Reid and Green were in a romantic relationship. Green remains in custody and it is unknown if he has hired a lawyer.
Naz Reid, 25, is preparing for his seventh season with the Timberwolves, the team with which he recently signed a five-year contract. The player, a native of New Jersey, was recognized as the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in the 2023-24 season.
Timberwolves player Karl-Anthony Towns expressed his sorrow through social media.Naz Reid’s agents have not issued any comments at this time.
Jackson, where the event occurred, is located in southern New Jersey, about 50 kilometers from Philadelphia.
