Bob Myers Leaves ESPN to Chair Sports at Harris Blitzer
Former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers will leave his position as a basketball analyst at ESPN to become president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE). This change gives the executive, known for his championship successes, the opportunity to work in several of the world’s most important sports leagues. Myers will assume a full-time role with the aim of maximizing opportunities and strengthening processes for the HBSE portfolio, which includes the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, the English Premier League’s Crystal Palace F.C., and an investment in the NASCAR team Joe Gibbs Racing. Additionally, Myers will continue to support Josh Harris, managing partner of the Washington Commanders, after helping establish the leadership team framework that has guided the NFL franchise toward prominence. There will be no changes to the reporting structures for HBSE teams; the basketball and hockey presidents of operations will continue to report to the ownership of their respective teams. The arrival of Myers, and his reputation as a respected and powerful figure in the industry, strengthens HBSE’s executive ranks, as he will work strategically with ownership and senior leadership groups in each team. Although he will continue to reside in California, he will travel regularly to HBSE/Commanders properties and events. This is the global and multifaceted sporting opportunity that Myers was looking for in the next chapter of his career.“Our goal has been to hire, grow, and retain the brightest executives in the world, and we are a stronger and more dynamic organization with the addition of Bob Myers,” said Harris and David Blitzer. “His experience as an architect of championship teams will complement our existing leadership structure, while allowing HBSE to maximize opportunities across our entire portfolio. We are excited for Bob to continue his successful career here at HBSE.”

“I’ve been fortunate enough to know Josh and David for a long time, and I’ve always admired and respected them greatly for the way they’ve built such an impressive global sports portfolio,” Myers said. “This position was intriguing because it provides the opportunity to work with some of the most talented leaders and executives in the industry in the world’s largest sports leagues.
Myers added: “I also want to thank Bob Iger, Jimmy Pitaro, and my ESPN colleagues for an incredible experience during my time there and for their support as I pursue the next chapter of my career.”“By leveraging HBSE’s global presence in sports, we can create competitive advantages for our athletes and teams that enhance our ability to win. This is the kind of challenge and opportunity I was looking for, and I am grateful to Josh and David for the opportunity to be a part of HBSE.”
