Bob Myers Leaves ESPN to Chair Sports at Harris Blitzer

Former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers will leave his position as a basketball analyst at ESPN to become president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. This new role will allow the executive, known for his championship successes, to work in various world-renowned leagues. Myers will work full-time with the goal of maximizing opportunities and strengthening processes for the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE) portfolio. This includes the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, the English Premier League’s Crystal Palace F.C., and an investment in the NASCAR team Joe Gibbs Racing. In addition, Myers will continue to support Josh Harris, managing partner of the Washington Commanders, after having collaborated in the formation of the leadership team that has guided the NFL franchise towards prominence. There will be no changes to the reporting structures of the HBSE teams. The presidents of basketball and hockey operations will continue to report to the ownership of their respective teams. The arrival of Myers, and his reputation as a respected and powerful figure in the industry, strengthens HBSE’s executive ranks. He will work strategically with ownership and senior leadership groups in each team. Although he will continue to reside in California, he will travel regularly to HBSE properties and events and the Commanders.

This is the global and multifaceted sporting opportunity that Myers was looking for in the next stage of his career.

Myers began his career as a sports agent, working in this role for 14 years before joining the Warriors’ front office in 2011. During his 12 years in Golden State, Myers rose to president and general manager, building rosters that won NBA titles in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022, and earning the NBA Executive of the Year awards in 2015 and 2017. In 2024, Myers advised Harris on building the Commanders’ organizational infrastructure, including the hiring of general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn. After leaving his position with the Warriors in 2023, Myers also began working as a basketball analyst for ESPN, participating in pre-game and post-game basketball programs.
