Moe Wagner Returns to Orlando Magic with One-Year Contract

Free agent power forward/center Moe Wagner has reached an agreement to return to the Orlando Magic on a one-year, $5 million contract.

Wagner’s agent, Jason Glushon, closed the new contract with Magic executives on Friday.

Previously, Magic had declined Wagner’s $11 million team option earlier this summer, making him a free agent.

Wagner, 28, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in December. Before the injury, he averaged 12.9 points per game, the highest figure of his career, with 56.2% field goal shooting and 36% from the three-point line, also the best mark of his career.

In his 30 games, Wagner was shaping up as a Sixth Man of the Year candidate and led the NBA in points among players averaging less than 20 minutes.

Moe Wagner, brother of Magic star Franz Wagner, was selected 25th overall in the 2018 NBA draft. After going through three teams in his first three seasons, he was cut at the end of the 2020-21 season and signed by Orlando.
