Mavericks Join the Refusal: Knicks in Search of a Coach
The Dallas Mavericks have denied the New York Knicks’ request to speak with their coach, Jason Kidd, according to sources close to the situation.
This decision makes Kidd the third coach, along with Ime Udoka of the Houston Rockets and Chris Finch of the Minnesota Timberwolves, whose teams have denied them permission to be interviewed by the Knicks.
Additionally, the Knicks tried to contact Quin Snyder, coach of the Atlanta Hawks, but were also turned down.
The Knicks’ search for a new coach intensifies after the firing of Tom Thibodeau last week, a surprising decision after he led the team to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 25 years.
Jay Wright, who coached three current Knicks starters at Villanova, informed New York last week that he would not be interested in the position.
