Lakers Beat Clippers in a Game Marked by Slippery Court

The Los Angeles Lakers achieved a resounding victory over the LA Clippers with a score of 135-118. However, the triumph was marred by a worrying detail: the playing court, which turned out to be slippery. The match, played on an alternative court of bright yellow color, generated criticism from the players, who expressed their concern for safety.

It’s just slippery. It’s dangerous.

Luka Doncic
Doncic, Lakers star, mentioned that he slipped on several occasions during the game, as did other players. Although an additional cleaning of the court was requested before the start of the match, the situation did not improve. Lakers coach JJ Redick pointed out that the court condition could be due to condensation, given that Crypto.com Arena also hosts ice hockey games for the Los Angeles Kings. Despite the difficulties, the Lakers achieved an outstanding performance. Doncic led the attack with 43 points, 13 assists, and 9 rebounds. Austin Reaves contributed 31 points, while LeBron James added 25 points. In addition to the slippery court, the game had a tense moment in the final quarter when Clippers’ Kris Dunn pushed Doncic.

I was expecting the rebound when I got a low blow to the back, so I’m not going to stay still.

Luka Doncic
Jaxson Hayes defended Doncic, which resulted in Dunn’s ejection and a technical foul for Hayes. Doncic offered to cover Hayes’s fine. The victory secures the Lakers’ qualification for the NBA Cup tournament and awards them a cash prize of $53,093 per player. If the Lakers beat the Mavericks on Friday, they will secure a home game in the NBA Cup quarterfinals.
