Dereck Lively II Undergoes Surgery, Aims for Preseason
Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II has undergone surgery to address bone spurs in his right foot, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Lively II is expected to be fully recovered by the start of training camp in September.
Last season, Lively missed more than two months of play due to a stress fracture in his right ankle, one of several injuries that affected Dallas’s performance.
At 21 years old, Lively has struggled with injuries early in his NBA career, participating in only 91 regular season games in his first two seasons.
Lively is expected to be part of a powerful interior game in Dallas for next season, alongside players like Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, P.J. Washington, and Cooper Flagg.
