LeBron James Returns to Action with the Lakers
Lakers star LeBron James is set to make his season debut against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday, according to sources close to the team. In this way, James will begin his twenty-third season in the NBA, setting a new record in the league.
James, 40 years old, was out of the courts for the first 14 games of the season due to sciatica issues, a nerve condition that affected his lower back and the right side of his body.
The player rejoined the team’s training on Monday, participating in his first 5-on-5 practice with his teammates since the Lakers’ elimination in the first round of the playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves in April.
This occurs after James completed a rehabilitation assignment with the G League’s South Bay Lakers last week, while the team was on a five-game road trip. During this time, James was able to practice for two consecutive days without experiencing persistent pain or discomfort.
LeBron James, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, begins the season 50 games away from Robert Parish, a Boston Celtics legend, on the list of players with the most games played. In addition, he is 508 assists away from Jason Kidd to take third place on the all-time assists list, and one three-pointer away from Reggie Miller, a shooter for the Indiana Pacers, for sixth place on the all-time three-pointers list.
