James was assigned to the South Bay Lakers on Wednesday and completed several days of practices and 5-on-5 sessions with the G League program, while Los Angeles was finishing a five-game road trip across the country. The 40-year-old player, who missed all of training camp and the first month of the regular season due to sciatica affecting his lower back and the right side of his body, fully participated in practices without experiencing any persistent discomfort or pain from the injury.Sources with knowledge of his rehabilitation indicated that “he looked great” and “moved well,” showing motivation and enthusiasm to return to the court with the Lakers, who have a 10-4 record at the start of the season and are in fourth place in the Western Conference. James, who will become the first player in league history to play a 23rd season, hinted at how close he is to returning on his Instagram account, sharing a video focused on his new Nike sneakers, accompanied by an hourglass emoji. The Lakers host the Utah Jazz on Tuesday and don’t play again until Sunday, in Utah. While James was back in L.A. on his rehabilitation assignment, his son, Bronny James, made his second start in a 119-95 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.It looked great and moved well.
