Malcolm Brogdon Bolsters the Knicks with a One-Year Contract

Free agent guard Malcolm Brogdon has agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Knicks, according to his agent Sam Permut of Roc Nation.

With ten seasons in the NBA, Brogdon, who was named Sixth Man of the Year, will provide depth and playmaking in the Knicks’ backcourt. He is expected to have an important role in the team’s rotation under the direction of new coach Mike Brown. Brogdon joins Landry Shamet, who also signed a one-year contract, to complete the Knicks’ roster.

In the past season, playing for the Washington Wizards, Brogdon averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.8 rebounds in 24 games, the fewest of his career. Although his three-point percentage was 29%, the lowest of his career, in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, Brogdon had a 43% effectiveness in three-point shots, ranking among the best in the league.

Brogdon won the Rookie of the Year award in 2016-17 and the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2022-23, being one of the two players in NBA history to win both awards, along with Mike Miller.

In the last three seasons, he has played for the Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers, and Boston Celtics. Before that, he split his first six NBA seasons between the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers.
