Verstappen Confirms His Continuity with Red Bull: “It’s Time to Stop the Rumors”

The star driver Max Verstappen has cleared up any doubts about his future in Formula 1, confirming that he will remain at Red Bull for the next season. This statement puts an end to the speculations that arose in recent weeks about his possible departure from the team. The uncertainty about Verstappen’s future intensified due to the interest shown by Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff in signing the champion. However, Verstappen himself has settled the matter, making it clear that his focus has always been on improving the team’s performance and planning for the future.

“It’s interesting to see all the stories that have come out. For me, I never said anything because I was focused on talking to the team about how to improve our performance and ideas for next year. I think it’s time to stop the rumors. I was always clear that I would stay,” said Verstappen.

Verstappen signed his current contract with Red Bull in 2022, ensuring his stay with the team until the end of the 2028 season. The Dutch driver has emphasized that his priority has always been to work on the car’s performance and discuss improvements with the team, demonstrating his commitment to Red Bull. Regarding speculation about his future, Verstappen commented: “I don’t know. If you ask me that question next year, then yes, we will have that speculation! But I never talk about that. I am more interested in working on the performance of things. That’s why I never really talk about what’s in my contract.” Verstappen’s confirmation comes after the departure of team principal Christian Horner, who was replaced by Laurent Mekies, former team principal of Racing Bulls. Verstappen expressed his enthusiasm for Mekies’ arrival, highlighting the motivation and focus he brings to the team. Although he acknowledges that this season’s results are difficult to evaluate, he hopes that Mekies’ influence will be noticeable in the coming years.

“I like how Laurent is working. He is very motivated and constantly asks the right questions, both to me and the team. It’s nice to see. I hope that in the next two years we can see his impact on the team,” added Verstappen.
