Knicks Seek New Coach: Udoka and Finch Out of the Equation

The New York Knicks are looking for a new head coach following the surprising dismissal of Tom Thibodeau last week. The New York team has set its sights on several candidates, but has already received some resounding “no”s. According to sources close to the situation, the Knicks requested permission to interview Ime Udoka, coach of the Houston Rockets, and Chris Finch, of the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, both requests were denied. Both Udoka and Finch come from successful seasons with their teams. The Rockets managed to break a four-year playoff drought, securing second place in the Western Conference. For their part, the Timberwolves reached the conference finals for the second consecutive year. The decision to fire Thibodeau, who led the Knicks to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 25 years, surprised many. Now, the franchise faces the challenge of finding a suitable replacement. The Knicks have also considered Jason Kidd, coach of the Dallas Mavericks, but have not yet requested permission for an interview. Sources indicate that the Mavericks would also reject the request if made. Additionally, Jay Wright, who coached three current Knicks starters during his time at Villanova, informed the team that he would not be interested in the position.
