Klay Thompson Responds to Ja Morant After Game: Tension in the NBA!

Klay Thompson, Mavericks player, expressed his frustration with Ja Morant, after Saturday’s game against the Grizzlies, where the latter took the victory 102-96. Morant, absent due to a calf injury, exchanged words with Thompson at the end of the game, generating tension between both players. The rivalry between Thompson and Morant dates back to the 2022 playoffs, when Thompson’s Warriors eliminated the Grizzlies, on their way to their NBA championship.

During the game, Thompson was involved in several confrontations with Grizzlies players, including Santi Aldama and Vince Williams Jr. After the game, Morant disparaged Thompson during an on-court interview, referring to him as “the shooter wasn’t the one from Golden State,” after the Mavericks’ defeat. Thompson called Morant’s comments “without intelligent depth”, alluding to the off-court problems, suspensions, and injuries that have affected Morant’s career.

Morant has been suspended in the last three seasons for different reasons.

Thompson also criticized Aldama’s blatant foul on Cooper Flagg, recalling the Grizzlies’ actions in the 2022 playoffs. Thompson, who has accepted a bench role in Dallas and has struggled this season, expressed his respect for the “Grit ‘n Grind” era Grizzlies, but not for the more recent Memphis players.

They just talk a lot. They’ve always talked a lot. And they never really backed it up either, so I don’t really respect that. I respect the guys who back up the talk with the game because talk is cheap.
