Steve Kerr Celebrates His 600th NBA Victory

The Golden State Warriors coach, Steve Kerr, finally reached a significant milestone in his career by celebrating his 600th victory in the NBA. Kerr is one of the coaches who has achieved this mark the fastest, and after reaching 599 victories, the Warriors broke a streak of five consecutive losses. The long-awaited victory arrived on Monday night with a score of 125-117 over the Washington Wizards.

It wasn’t a great basketball game, but we needed the win and we were good enough to get it.

Kerr reached 600 wins in his 943rd regular season game. Only three coaches have needed fewer games to achieve this: Phil Jackson (805 games), Pat Riley (832 games), and Gregg Popovich (887 games).

It’s surreal to hear my name in that group, but I can tell you that one thing that unites us all, those names and mine, is talent. You can’t win in this league without great players, and I was blessed from the day I accepted this job with incredible talent.

In addition to his achievements as a coach, Kerr also amassed 601 wins as a player. He became the second person in NBA history to win 600 games as a player and coach, joining Don Nelson. In the game against the Wizards, Kristaps Porzingis led the scoring with 30 points, tying his season high. The Warriors’ next challenge will be a matchup against the Celtics on Wednesday night.
