Jaylen Brown Undergoes Knee Surgery, But Quick Recovery Expected

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Wednesday. The team has reported that Brown is expected to be available for the start of training camp “without limitations”. The Celtics indicated that the procedure performed was minimally invasive, with the aim of cleaning the player’s knee. This surgery occurs after sources revealed that Brown finished the season with a partial tear of the right meniscus. Despite the injury, the player continued to participate during the last month of the regular season and in the playoffs. It was learned that Brown received pain injections in his knee starting in March. Brown, a four-time All-Star and 2024 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP), averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists this season, his ninth in the NBA. His importance for next season has increased, especially considering that his teammate Jayson Tatum will miss a large part of the 2025-26 season due to the Achilles tendon rupture that took him out of the playoffs. Brown is scheduled to earn $53 million in the 2025-26 season, the second year of a five-year, $304 million contract, which at the time was the most lucrative in NBA history.
