Jarrett Allen Returns with Spark in Cavaliers’ Victory
Jarrett Allen, after missing ten games due to a knee tendinitis, returned to action with the Cleveland Cavaliers, providing significant energy to the team in their 149-128 victory over the Miami Heat. Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson joked about initially forgetting to include Allen in the starting lineup, but quickly welcomed him back with a hug. Allen, visibly moved by the reception from his teammates and the fans, scored 18 points in 18 minutes, showing his immediate impact on the game.Allen’s injury, suffered on March 3, initially did not seem serious, but the team opted for a cautious approach. Upon his return, Allen exceeded expectations by playing more than the anticipated 20 minutes, showcasing his ability to impact the game with 10 rebounds and several dunks. Max Strus led the Cavaliers with 29 points, including eight three-pointers, setting a franchise record for points in a regular season game. Evan Mobley added 23 points and James Harden contributed 17 points and 14 assists, his best mark since joining the team. The connection between Allen and Harden, along with the presence of Donovan Mitchell, has increased the team’s expectations. Atkinson highlighted Allen’s importance in the team’s defense, describing him as a key piece that protects the rim and facilitates the game. Allen averages 15.3 points and 9.2 rebounds in 51 games this season. Before his injury, Allen had one of the best offensive stretches of his career, including a personal record of 40 points and 17 rebounds against Portland on February 1st. Despite Allen’s return, the Cavaliers are still without Jaylon Tyson and Dean Wade, both important players in the team’s rotation.“It was great. Kenny designed the first play for me. Usually, I don’t get the first play sometimes, but he wanted me to get into rhythm and from there, things started to work for me,” Allen commented.
