Jalen Williams Leaves Game with Thigh Injury
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jalen Williams left the game in the second quarter of the 122-120 loss to Miami on Saturday night. Williams grabbed his right thigh after attempting a difficult pass. After evaluating Williams, the team diagnosed a right thigh ailment and ruled him out for the remainder of the game. Ajay Mitchell took Williams’ place in the lineup at the start of the third quarter.Thunder coach Mark Daigneault reported that Williams will be evaluated on Sunday. The team will play on Monday in Cleveland. In the play where he got injured, Williams drove into the paint, spun, and attempted a behind-the-head pass to Chet Holmgren near the basket. Immediately afterward, he grabbed the back of his leg and remained in Oklahoma City’s offensive zone while play continued. The Thunder called a timeout eight seconds later. Team personnel briefly attended to Williams, who limped off the court toward the Oklahoma City locker room. Before the injury, Williams accumulated 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists in 13 minutes of play. So far this season, he averages 17.2 points, 5.7 assists, and 4.8 rebounds. Williams missed the first 19 games of the season due to wrist surgery.Obviously, Dub is very important to us. Without him on the court, we are a different team.
