Allen Iverson Reveals the Lowest Point of His Life
In a recent interview, NBA legend Allen Iverson shared intimate details about the most difficult moment of his life, revelations that are part of his new autobiography, “Misunderstood”. Iverson, known for his impact on basketball, surprised everyone by confessing that the lowest point in his life was not related to his career on the court.“It was self-inflicted,” Iverson declared. “It was when Tawanna divorced me.”

When asked how he got Tawanna back, Iverson replied that it was thanks to Keith Sweat’s music and a lot of pleading. During this process of reflection and rebuilding of his marriage, Iverson recognized that alcohol was a major problem, and that he was tired of fighting it. Divorce, the end of his career, and his youthful experiences were factors that influenced his decision.“That’s when I knew I’d hit rock bottom and it was time for a deep personal reevaluation,” he stated. “When I was sitting in that courtroom, I used to watch the Sixers versus the Sixers in practice, or Georgetown versus Georgetown. The tears started falling on the (divorce) papers when I looked and saw ‘Iverson versus Iverson’.”

Iverson also talked about his influence on the new generations of NBA players.“It’s a plethora of things. Ultimately, when you evaluate your maturity and what’s important and what you mean to your family, friends, and the world, I just thought about the way it was supposed to be in life. And I didn’t see how (alcohol) was helping anything,” he said. “I could only think of negative experiences.”
