Jazz and Hornets finalize trade: Sexton to Charlotte, Nurkic to Utah

The Utah Jazz have agreed to a trade with the Charlotte Hornets, sending guard Collin Sexton and a 2030 second-round pick to Charlotte. In return, the Jazz will receive center Jusuf Nurkic, according to sources close to the negotiation. This move allows the Jazz to restructure their roster after selecting promising guards Ace Bailey and Walter Clayton Jr. in the recent draft. Sexton, 26, has been a key piece in Utah for the last three seasons, averaging 18.4 points and 4.2 assists per game. In addition, he led the Jazz in total points in the last two seasons and recorded career highs in three-point percentage (41%) and free throws (87%) last year. With this trade, Sexton could be the replacement for point guard Tre Mann, who is a restricted free agent this summer. Sexton has one year and $19 million left on his contract before becoming a free agent next summer. Nurkic, for his part, arrives in Utah after being acquired by the Hornets in the last season’s trade deadline. He joins a center rotation that already includes Walker Kessler and Kyle Filipowski. Nurkic, 30 years old, is also in the last year of his contract, worth approximately 19 million dollars.
