Tyler Herro ready to debut with the Heat against the Mavericks
Miami Heat star guard Tyler Herro is slated to make his season debut on Monday against the Dallas Mavericks, the team confirmed. Herro underwent ankle surgery on September 19 and will rejoin a Miami team that has an 11-6 record after four straight wins. The Heat average 124.9 points per game, the best in the league, with their new offense and now get their top scorer from last season back.Herro dealt with a problem in his left foot last season and then suffered an ankle injury during an offseason workout that led to the decision to undergo surgery. Herro averaged 23.9 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds last season. In the absence of Herro, Norman Powell has helped to take on the scoring load, averaging 24.9 points per game. However, Powell underwent an MRI on Monday that confirmed a slight groin strain. His status is day-to-day and he will not play against the Mavericks. Heat forwards Andrew Wiggins (left hip flexor strain) and Nikola Jovic (right hip impingement) are also still out for the game against Dallas.I’m very excited for Tyler. I know how much work he’s been doing.
Erik Spoelstra, Heat coach
