Tyler Herro to Undergo Surgery and Miss the Start of the Season

Miami Heat All-Star Tyler Herro will undergo surgery on his left foot this Friday and will be out of action at the start of the 2025-26 season.

Sources close to the team indicate that Herro is expected to miss eight weeks of competition. This timeframe would leave him out of the first 12 games of the regular season.

Herro had already dealt with a left foot injury last season. In addition, he suffered an ankle injury during a preseason training session, which led to the decision to undergo surgery.

Miami will have to start next season without its top scorer. Herro is coming off his best season, averaging 23.9 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game in the 2024-25 season.

Looking to rebound from a disappointing finish, where the Heat were outmatched in three of their four consecutive losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round, Miami has bolstered its offense and shooting ability.

To this end, they made transfers to acquire Norman Powell and Simone Fontecchio, in addition to selecting guard Kasparas Jakucionis. These moves aim to support Herro, Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins, and Kel’el Ware.

Herro achieved his first All-Star appearance last season and has averaged at least 20 points and five rebounds in each of the last four seasons.
