Heat’s Tyler Herro to undergo foot surgery, will miss start of season
Miami Heat’s All-Star [Miami Heat](https://www.espn.com/nba/team/_/name/mia/miami-heat) Tyler Herro will undergo surgery on his left foot this Friday, which will keep him out of action at the start of the 2025-26 season.
Sources close to the team report that Herro is expected to be out for eight weeks. This recovery period would mean that Herro will miss approximately the first 12 games of the regular season.
Herro had already dealt with a left foot injury last season. In addition, he suffered an ankle injury during a preseason training, which ultimately led to the decision for surgery.
The absence of Herro represents a challenge for Miami, as the team will have to start the next season without its top scorer. Herro is coming off his best season, averaging 23.9 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game in the 2024-25 season.
In an effort to improve after a disappointing first-round elimination against the [Cleveland Cavaliers](https://www.espn.com/nba/team/_/name/cle/cleveland-cavaliers), Miami has reinforced its offense and shooting ability with the arrival of Norman Powell and Simone Fontecchio, in addition to the recruitment of guard Kasparas Jakucionis, who will seek to support Herro, Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins, and Kel’el Ware.
Herro made his first All-Star appearance last season and has averaged at least 20 points and five rebounds in each of the last four seasons.
