Heat’s Tyler Herro to undergo surgery, will be out at the start of the season

Miami Heat All-Star Tyler Herro will undergo surgery on his left foot this Friday, which will keep him off the court at the start of the 2025-26 season, according to the team. Sources close to the team indicate that Herro is expected to be out for eight weeks. This timeframe would sideline him for the first 12 games of the Heat’s regular season. Herro had already dealt with an impingement injury in his left foot last season. In addition, he suffered an ankle injury during an off-season workout, which led to the decision to undergo surgery. Miami will have to start next season without its top scorer. Herro is coming off his best season, averaging 23.9 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game in the 2024-25 campaign. Seeking to recover from a disappointing first-round elimination, where the Heat were outmatched by the Cleveland Cavaliers in four consecutive games, Miami has bolstered its offense and shooting ability. This was achieved through the acquisition of Norman Powell and Simone Fontecchio, in addition to the selection of guard Kasparas Jakucionis, to support Herro, Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins, and Kel’el Ware. Herro made his first All-Star appearance last season and has averaged at least 20 points and five rebounds in each of the last four seasons.
