Postponed game between Heat and Bulls due to Condensation on the Court
The scheduled game between the Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls was postponed this Thursday due to condensation present on the court of the United Center, in Chicago. The venue had hosted an ice hockey game on Wednesday, and after an unusually warm and rainy day in the city, the basketball court was not in optimal condition for the game. The players from both teams carried out their pre-match warm-up routines, but they deemed the court unsafe to play on. After more than 90 minutes of unsuccessful attempts to solve the problem, including increasing the stadium’s air conditioning and sweeping the court with mops and large towels, the NBA office, the referees, and the coaches of both teams made the decision to postpone the match.
United Center employees clean the court during the delay before Thursday’s scheduled game between the Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls. The game was later postponed.
A date for the rescheduling of the game was not immediately announced. The Heat are not scheduled to return to Chicago for the remainder of the season. During the 2016-17 season, games in Minnesota and Philadelphia were postponed due to condensation in similar circumstances: a warm day in a cold-weather city, after an ice event at the stadium.Players were complaining about it on both sides. We all went out there and, almost immediately, we felt it was unplayable.
