Hawks Send Kobe Bufkin to the Nets
In a strategic move, the Atlanta Hawks have agreed to trade guard Kobe Bufkin to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for cash considerations, according to sources familiar with the situation. The news was initially reported by Shams Charania of ESPN.
Bufkin, selected at the 15th position in the 2023 NBA draft by the Hawks, has a salary of $5.4 million for this season. In addition, the team has an option for the 2026-27 season for $6.9 million.
This trade gives the Hawks more flexibility in their roster and grants them a $4.5 million trade exception. For the 21-year-old Bufkin, it represents a new development opportunity in Brooklyn.
The Nets, for their part, will have $11.6 million in salary space after this move, and currently have 15 players with guaranteed contracts.
During the last two seasons, Bufkin participated in 27 games with the Hawks. In the G League, where he played 14 games during the 2023-24 season, he averaged 23.6 points.
