Grizzlies’ Jaren Jackson Jr. Recovering from Foot Surgery
The Memphis Grizzlies’ All-Star power forward, Jaren Jackson Jr., is in the process of recovering after undergoing surgery for a toe injury. The team announced on Wednesday that he will be reevaluated in approximately 12 weeks.
Jackson, who is 6 feet 10 inches tall and recently agreed to a five-year, $240 million contract extension with the Grizzlies, suffered the injury to his right foot while participating in offseason basketball activities. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Jackson, 25, and selected in the first round of the 2018 draft, earned his second All-Star selection last season, averaging 22.2 points and 5.6 rebounds in 74 games with the Grizzlies, matching the second-most games in his career. He was recognized as the NBA Defensive Player of the Year for the 2022-23 season, leading the league with 3 blocks per game.
Another key Grizzlies player, Brandon Clarke, is also recovering from a high-grade posterior cruciate ligament sprain in his right knee, an injury that ended his season in March. However, he avoided surgery and is expected to be back for the start of next season.
Memphis was swept by the eventual champion Oklahoma City in the first round of the playoffs in April.
