Great Britain Shocks Montenegro in EuroBasket

Portugal secured their Group A qualification with a crucial 68-65 victory over Estonia, despite the ejection of Boston Celtics player Neemias Queta in the third quarter. Estonia led 64-61 in the last minute, but Rafael Lisboa tied the game with a three-pointer with 54 seconds left. Lisboa finished the game with 17 points and five assists, including four free throws. Portugal will face Germany on Saturday for a place in the quarter-finals. Queta was ejected with 4:34 remaining in the third quarter after receiving two technical fouls. He had scored 15 points.

Latvia Beats Czech Republic

In the same group in Riga, Latvia defeated the Czech Republic with a score of 109-75, delighting the local fans, including President Edgars Rinkēvičs. Brothers Davis and Dairis Bertans led Latvia with 20 points each. Kristaps Porzingis, a player for the Atlanta Hawks, contributed 16 points and seven rebounds. Latvia finished third in the group and will face Lithuania in the round of 16.

Turkey secured first place in Group A by defeating Serbia 95-90, thanks to six free throws in the last minute. The match between Turkey and Serbia, two undefeated teams, drew everyone’s attention, with Alperen Sengun and Nikola Jokic as the central figures. Sengun, a player for the Houston Rockets, led Turkey with 28 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists. Turkey secured the victory with a series of free throws in the final moments. Jokic led Serbia with 22 points, nine rebounds, and three steals. Both teams will play on Saturday: Turkey against Sweden and Serbia against Finland.
