Great Britain Shocks Montenegro in EuroBasket
In a day full of emotions at the EuroBasket tournament, Great Britain achieved a historic victory by defeating Montenegro with a score of 89-83. This triumph marks the first British victory in the tournament in 12 years and frustrates Montenegro’s aspirations to advance to the knockout phase.
After losing their previous four matches in Group B, Great Britain showed a solid collective performance, breaking their losing streak and surprising Montenegro, who needed the victory to secure their place in the round of 16.
Myles Hesson led the British attack with 25 points, in addition to capturing seven rebounds. Akwasi Yeboah contributed 23 points.
On the part of Montenegro, Nikola Vucevic, player for the Chicago Bulls, stood out with 31 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. However, Montenegro’s 18 turnovers proved to be a determining factor.
Both Montenegro and Great Britain were eliminated from the tournament. The result favored Sweden, which advanced to the knockout phase for the first time, despite losing to Lithuania 74-71.
In other Group B results, Germany defeated Finland 91-61, securing their undefeated position. Finland also managed to advance to the next round, placing third, just below Lithuania.

Portugal secured their Group A qualification with a crucial 68-65 victory over Estonia, despite the ejection of Boston Celtics player Neemias Queta in the third quarter.
Estonia led 64-61 in the last minute, but Rafael Lisboa tied the game with a three-pointer with 54 seconds left. Lisboa finished the game with 17 points and five assists, including four free throws.
Portugal will face Germany on Saturday for a place in the quarter-finals.
Queta was ejected with 4:34 remaining in the third quarter after receiving two technical fouls. He had scored 15 points.Latvia Beats Czech Republic
In the same group in Riga, Latvia defeated the Czech Republic with a score of 109-75, delighting the local fans, including President Edgars Rinkēvičs.
Brothers Davis and Dairis Bertans led Latvia with 20 points each. Kristaps Porzingis, a player for the Atlanta Hawks, contributed 16 points and seven rebounds.

Turkey secured first place in Group A by defeating Serbia 95-90, thanks to six free throws in the last minute.
The match between Turkey and Serbia, two undefeated teams, drew everyone’s attention, with Alperen Sengun and Nikola Jokic as the central figures.
Sengun, a player for the Houston Rockets, led Turkey with 28 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists. Turkey secured the victory with a series of free throws in the final moments.
Jokic led Serbia with 22 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.
Both teams will play on Saturday: Turkey against Sweden and Serbia against Finland.
