New York – Giannis Antetokounmpo returned to action with the Milwaukee Bucks in an NBA Cup game against the New York Knicks on Friday night.
The Greek star missed four games due to a groin strain.
Antetokounmpo suffered the injury in his left groin during Milwaukee’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on November 17. After the incident, Bucks coach Doc Rivers estimated that the two-time MVP would be out for approximately two weeks.
Before the injury, Antetokounmpo averaged 31.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game. In the game where he got injured, he scored 14 points in 13 minutes of play.
In the current season, the Bucks have a record of 0-5 without Antetokounmpo on the court. The player traveled with the team to Miami on Wednesday, where the Bucks suffered a 106-103 defeat.
Antetokounmpo was recognized as the MVP of the mid-season tournament last year, when the Bucks defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder to win the title, after falling to the Indiana Pacers in the semi-finals of the 2023-24 season.
