Giannis Antetokounmpo Out with Thigh Injury

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered a low-grade strain in his left hamstring and will be out of action for one to two weeks. The news comes after Antetokounmpo left Monday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to injury.

It’s good news, although I don’t know the extent of it, I know it’s not serious. He’ll probably be out for two weeks, but let’s hope it’s less.

Doc Rivers, Bucks coach
Rivers also explained that Antetokounmpo began to feel discomfort in his thigh as early as the first quarter of Monday’s game, touching the area on several occasions before leaving the game. The player retired with 3:03 remaining in the second quarter. Antetokounmpo has had a spectacular start to the season, averaging 32.6 points with 63% shooting efficiency, 11.3 rebounds, and 7.1 assists in his first 12 games. The Bucks have relied heavily on their star, with a usage rate of 36.4%, the second highest in the NBA before Monday and Antetokounmpo’s highest since the 2022-23 season.

Without their star, the Bucks were outscored 59-49 and shot 38.6% from the field after halftime against the Cavs, losing consecutive games for the first time this season. The Bucks are 8-7, and are 1-1 in games Antetokounmpo has missed this season.
