Finland Shocks Serbia in EuroBasket: Jokic and Serbia Eliminated

In an exciting match of the EuroBasket round of 16, Finland achieved an impressive victory over Serbia, eliminating the team led by Nikola Jokic from the competition. The final score was 92-86 in favor of the Finns, who staged a crucial comeback in the final minutes of the game. Jokic, star of the Denver Nuggets, had an outstanding individual performance by scoring 33 points, but it was not enough to prevent his team’s defeat. Elias Valtonen was the hero of Finland, scoring eight crucial points in the last two minutes of the game, including key three-pointers that sealed the victory. Serbia, which entered the tournament as one of the favorites, suffered a harsh elimination in this phase, marking the second consecutive time they fail to advance beyond the round of 16.

“They played a great game. We weren’t ready from the start. I just wasn’t ready from the jump,” Jokic commented after the defeat.

Finland, for its part, showed great determination, especially in offensive rebounds, where they surpassed Serbia with 20 rebounds, something that Jokic called “unacceptable”. Lauri Markkanen led Finland with 29 points, while Valtonen finished with 13. In the quarterfinals, Finland will face the winner of the match between France and Georgia.
